I said I wouldn’t get political.
I’m getting political.
One of the husband’s friends posted on Facebook, “So what do you think about Target’s new bathroom policy?”
My simple response was, I don’t care where people evacuate their bowels or bladders.
I was inundated with:
Transgender people constitute .3 percent of the population. Where are people going that this is an issue? Like, a big issue? I asked the guy if he normally uses the restroom where roves of children are in the bathroom without a parent supervising?
I understand people want their children to be safe. I want children to be safe. But any sane person can see political pandering to their base during an election cycle. This has nothing to do with being politically correct. Transgendered people didn’t ask for this. Large businesses are responding to these new laws by pulling out of states that have passed these unnecessary laws or have threatened to pull out.
During election cycles we hear a lot of keyword hot-button issue topics. Abortion – the moral hot button is always a favorite, immigration – damn those illegals!
For some reason, transgendered people have come into this fray. I don’t know why. Remember, .3% of the population.
I’ve been peeing in bathrooms and in some extreme cases dropping heat in restaurant or department store bathrooms and this ‘issue’ has never come up. Have I shared the bathroom with a transgendered woman? I don’t know. I was too busy concentrating on going to the bathroom.
While the left side of politics are concerned about ‘triggering’ or hurt feelings, the right is harping on being politically correct all while trying to push laws that are hypocritical for what they are rallying against.
Both sides suck.
What doesn’t suck though, are people trying to freaking use the bathroom. Boycott Target all you want. People will harp on their first amendment rights all while trying to trounce onto another’s. Since the Supreme Court ruled that corporations are people, they are also allowed first amendment protections.
I guess, if you don’t like it, don’t shop there. However, your places of shopping will continue to dwindle and dwindle. It’s not about being p.c., it’s about the almighty dollar. As our new generations are coming of age and are in the job market, they are more open-minded, more tolerant, than the generations before. Not all, but a lot.
The amount of gay people or transgender people in this country hasn’t increased; what has though is the amount of acceptance. There are many that will cling to their Bibles and scream of Sodom and Gomorrah, but their numbers are dwindling. I grew up in the church. I also was confused how they expected me to believe Eve was created from Adam’s rib. It didn’t make sense.
If people want to clutch onto their holy books for their beliefs, that is fine. We are a free country and can believe what we choose to. It’s pretty amazing like that.
My split from the Republican party came when the Tea Party came into existence. I have a lot of problems when people pin PATRIOT(tm) to their names. I can almost guarantee they are misogynistic, racist, bigots hiding behind the guise of patriotism and taking our country back.
These are the same people that fellate our troops but want to send them to whatever sandy scape they can think of all while stripping or denying any pay wages or stripping funding for the VA. They are the same people that think our military is being depleted when our GDP for military spending is the highest of any country.
What political correctness is, has been muddied during this political season. What political correctness used to mean was you couldn’t call a black person the ‘n’ word. Now everything has turned into political correctness when that’s not really what it means.
A transgender person using the bathroom according to their sexual identity isn’t about P.C. Governors have used that term to pass laws restricting who can use what bathroom. Why? Why is this suddenly an issue?
The party has greased its wheels on the notion that their base and fringe supporters will be up in arms that a man may use the same restroom as their mothers and daughters. That there are roves of trans people waiting outside bathrooms to assault their families.
People are lapping it up.
A man in a woman’s restroom? The fuck?!
.3% of the population, people.
Lately I’ve been inundated with political campaign commercials. I haven’t had the joy of seeing Democrats but I have seen the Republicans. “Christian, Marine, Pro-Life, ISIS? Destroy it. Amnesty? No way, now how. A wall? Build it. Obamacare? Repeal it. All of it.”
Immigration has been a problem since forever. Forever. You can’t build a wall because they will build tunnels. When we’re the neighbor of a country that is run by cartels, you can’t be surprised when citizens of that country want to flee. Do I agree with people coming here illegally? No. Do I understand people wanting to save their families? Yes.
Things aren’t free. Nothing is free. Everything in this country is paid for with tax dollars. I’m lucky in the fact that my college education was paid for by my father because of my parent’s divorce decree.
When I hear people screaming for a trillion dollar wall without blinking an eye but bemoaning lazy college students for wanting their college paid for, it’s annoying.
We are a first world country. We need to start acting like it.
We shouldn’t have people go bankrupt because of medical bills. We shouldn’t have college students graduating being thousands and thousands of dollars in debt.
We’re not in the millennial generation; we’re in an “I got mine” generation. Ask anyone, they have paid their own way.
Investing in our own country and next generation isn’t a bad thing. I would happily spend my little bit of tax dollars so a student doesn’t go into debt. So a mother and/or father can spend time with their newborn child. So a vet in the VA can have help.
What I don’t want to spend my pittance on is some asshole wanting to spend money because someone that was born with a dick wants to use the women’s restroom. Someone who no longer even resembles a man.
While we scream about being politically correct, maybe we should scream about the weirdos wondering what goes on behind closed doors and how people just want to freaking pee.
While there may be people waiting for your little one in the restroom, statistically, you may want to be on the lookout for our local ‘normal’ looking friend.
Get your shit together, America.
